SEND admissions
Duke Street Primary School is an inclusive mainstream school that is committed to meeting the needs of all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
As a mainstream school, all admissions are managed through Lancashire County Council's Admissions Team. Please visit the link below for further information:
Special educational needs and disabilities - local offer
If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), please contact your allocated SEND caseworker at the Local Authority to discuss your child's primary school placement.
We work closely with nurseries, previous schools, families and external agencies to ensure every child experiences a positive and well-planned transition into Duke Street Primary School. Before a child starts, our SENDCo liaises with feeder nurseries and schools to gather information about their individual needs, attends transition meetings where appropriate and works with staff and professionals to ensure suitable support, resources and provision are in place from the first day.
For children transferring from another school, the SENDCo will obtain all relevant information, including previous assessments, support plans and involvement from external agencies, to ensure continuity of provision. Where a child has a disability, we also work with previous settings and specialist services to ensure any necessary equipment, adaptations and support are available before they join us.
The SENDCo works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to plan staffing, resources and any reasonable adjustments required so that every child can settle quickly, feel included and thrive within our school community.
